ORDERS

Once you place an order, you will receive a confirmation email. Orders typically ship within 1-2 business days. Once shipped, you will receive an email with tracking information.

If you did not receive an email, please check your junk/promotions folder and ensure you are using the same email address that was associated with your order.

If you cannot find your confirmation email, please reach out to us at support@freshcap.com.

If your order did not arrive, check the tracking number that was sent via email. That will show if the order has been delivered or if there is an issue with the carrier.

If the order says “delivered” but you did not receive your package, please check with the carrier.

The most common reason for this is if you entered the wrong shipping address when the order was placed.

If that occurs, FreshCap cannot be responsible for the mis-delivered package.

Once your order is placed, we can no longer make any changes. If you have any issues with your order, please contact us at support@freshcap.com.

If you notice an error with your shipping address please contact us as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee we will be able to successfully update an address error before our fulfillment team pulls the order. The shipping address is the responsibility of the customer.

NOTE: Updating your shipping address in your account will not update the shipping address on orders that have been placed.

FreshCap has a 100% Customer Happiness Guarantee. Since our products are supplements, we do not restock or resell any returned product and cannot accept exchanges.

To request a refund or replacement, please ensure your order was within the past 60 days and reach out directly to support@freshcap.com with your name, order number and specific reason for your refund or replacement request.

If your product has arrived damaged, please contact us at support@freshcap.com with photos of the package. We will be happy to make things right!

All orders are shipped from our warehouse in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We currently offer shipping in the USA and Canada only. If you are located outside of the USA and Canada and would like to order, we recommend setting up a mail forwarding account with a company like Shipito or similar.

With a freight forwarding service, you may be required to pay duties or import taxes. This is dependent on your country's import regulations.

The majority of our orders originate in the United States and the majority of our expenses are in USD. This is why our pricing is in USD.

NOTE:FreshCap is a Canadian company and on rare occasions some banks may charge a foreign transaction fee that may range from a few cents to up to 3%. This typically only occurs with smaller banks. Note that in the rare case that you are charged, we are happy to refund. Please reach out to us at support@freshcap.com if you have any questions.

Any fees or charges incurred by the customer are the sole responsibility of the customer and are in no way the responsibility of FreshCap Mushrooms and will not be reimbursed in any capacity by FreshCap. This includes, but is not limited to, charges such as bank fees, overdraft fees, credit card fees, international fees, broker fees, customs fees or other such charges and fees.

When I ordered my credit card charged me an international processing fee. Why?

We are headquartered in Canada so there is a chance that your bank may charge a foreign transaction fee, although this is very rare and usually seen only with smaller banks. We have no control over whether or not this fee is added to your order, and are not alerted when the fee is charged.

For the vast majority of customers, this is not an issue.

OUR MUSHROOMS

FreshCap is on a mission to bring you the best mushrooms in the world, so you can actually feel a difference. Quality is at the core of everything that we do.

That’s why our mushrooms are grown organically and sustainably on generational family farms in Southeast China, and our Chaga is wild harvested in Siberia.

China has a rich and storied history with the cultivation of medicinal mushrooms. The use of medicinal mushrooms in China is not a trend or a fad but a way of life.

We have worked for years to cultivate deep relationships with our mushroom growing partners, ensuring quality and integrity in every step of the process.

Our mushrooms aren’t “bred” or “manufactured.” They are grown the way nature intended on multi generation family farms who harness the knowledge and expertise required to produce only the best mushrooms.

Our mushrooms mainly grow on hardwood, but this ultimately depends on the species. Reishi is grown on hardwood logs that are buried in the ground. Chaga and Turkey Tail are wild harvested from trees. Our other species are grown on hardwood, with the exception of Cordyceps fruiting body, which uses rice and soy as its food source.

Not all mushroom products are created equal. We use only the whole fruiting body of the mushroom, properly extracted to ensure the beneficial compounds are contained in the final product.

Some companies will short-circuit the growing process using something called “mycelium on grain”. These products will be high in starch from rice or oats.

No matter who you get your mushrooms from, you should ensure that they are made from whole fruiting body and not myceliated grain.

When growing mushrooms, the mycelium first needs to be grown on a sterilized grain substrate, like rice, oats or rye. You can think of mycelium as the “root structure” of the mushrooms and myceliated grain like the “seeds” in the mushroom growing process.

To grow whole fruiting body mushrooms, this myceliated grain (also known as grain spawn) needs to be added to another substrate like hardwood sawdust or logs. Only then can full mushrooms be grown.

You can tell products that use myceliated grain because they will have something like “myceliated rice” or “mycelium biomass powder” on the ingredient list. In our opinion, these products should be avoided if you want to get the benefits from mushrooms.

There are lots of different beneficial compounds in mushrooms, but the main ones that we extract and test for are fungal beta-d glucan, triterpene and cordycepin.

Different mushrooms and extraction methods will result in different compounds being present. To check what compounds are in the mushrooms you are interested in, check the label for the supplement facts panel where the active compounds are listed.

Yes, all of our mushrooms are certified organic.

All of our products are packaged in the USA using GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certified facilities.

EXTRACTIONS

The extraction ratio means you use "X" grams of fruiting bodies to get 1 gram of extract powder.

Lion's Mane is 4:1. Chaga is 35:1. Reishi is 9:1. Cordyceps is 6:1. Turkey Tail is 5:1. Maitake is 5:1. Ultimate Mushroom Complex is 10:1.

Whole mushrooms are harvested, dried, and turned into a fine powder. They are then put through either hot water extraction or alcohol extraction. You can kind of think of it like making a tea or tincture but on a large scale.

Once enough time has passed to sufficiently pull out the beneficial compounds, the liquid is “spray dried” and turned into a fine powder that can be bottled, encapsulated, or added to other products.

Reishi, Chaga, and Lion’s Mane all contain important alcohol-soluble compounds, along with water-soluble beta-glucans. Because of this, we perform a dual alcohol/water extraction for those mushrooms.

For Cordyceps, we perform two separate water extractions. One is a hot water extraction to optimize the beta-glucan content, and the other is a cold water extraction to optimize for a higher concentration of Cordycepin.

For Turkey Tail and Maitake, we perform a hot water extraction, which is ideal for these mushrooms.

Some mushrooms contain both alcohol and water extractable compounds that are important to have in the final powder. For those specific species, we feel it is best to perform a dual extraction such that all the beneficial compounds are bio-available.

OUR PRODUCTS

Our capsules and powder products contain the exact same ingredients, serving size and number of servings per package. We do not add any fillers or flow aids to either. Just pure mushrooms!

The capsules are convenient to take to work or with you while you travel. The powders are to be mixed into beverages or food, but are a fun way to get mushrooms into your life.

The capsules are made from a natural fermented tapioca called “Pullulan”, a vegetable-derived, water-soluble polysaccharide. They are vegan, and the best option available for natural products.

In order to carry the USDA Organic logo on a product, it must be comprised of 95% or more organic ingredients. The mushroom extracts inside our capsules are USDA organic; however, once filled into the capsule, the capsule accounts for some of the final product’s weight. Since the capsules themselves are not considered an organic ingredient, they no longer fall into the 95%+ category and can only be labelled with the organic certifying body, not USDA Organic logo. We still carry organic certification for all of our capsule products, which can be seen on the label of all of our capsule products.

Some of our mushrooms might have a bitter taste- which is totally normal, and actually a good thing. Certain compounds that are pulled out of the mushrooms via extraction have a naturally bitter taste. That just means they actually contain the benefits you’re looking for!

If you do not like the flavor of mushroom extracts, capsules are a great option. You can also easily add the products to smoothies and other foods. If in doubt, check out our comprehensive recipes page!

Our products are currently available on our website and on Amazon.com.

All of our products are filled by weight. Each mushroom has a different density after being extracted which will result in a different fill level in the container. We account for this by changing the scoop size in each container. Cordyceps and Lion's Mane are more dense and will sit around just under the halfway mark and this is normal. As these mushrooms are quite dense, they do compact more during transportation and storage. We recommend giving them a stir before each us to break up the particles before scooping out a loosely packed scoop and levelling it off to get your serving. Each container is filled to 60 grams which is 60 servings using the scoop provided.

SAFETY

Absolutely, all of our products go through thorough 3rd party testing to ensure that heavy metals meet and exceed rigorous industry standards.

Yes, we are happy to provide full transparency of our testing without jumping through hoops to get it.

You can check the testing based on lot number for each product here.

At this time not enough research has been conducted to safely advise the use of mushroom supplements with children or during pregnancy and nursing.

Please consult your qualified healthcare practitioner for more information and guidance.

If you are undergoing surgery, have a medical condition, or are taking prescription drugs, including blood thinners or insulin medications, please consult your health practitioner before introducing our products into your diet.

HOW TO USE

Capsules are an easy and convenient way to get functional mushrooms into your diet. Simply consume two capsules per day, which provides 1 gram of fruiting body mushroom extract.

Powders are great if you do not like taking capsules. It is also a fun way to get functional mushrooms into your diet as they can be mixed into any beverage or recipe. Simply mix one loosely packed scoop (1 gram) into any beverage or recipe.

It is recommended to use functional mushroom supplements consistently and daily in order to let your body adapt to the beneficial compounds and feel the benefits.

As always, it is important to consult with your qualified healthcare practitioner for any questions related to diet.

There are no set recommendations on when to consume each mushroom. It is mainly personal preference and listening to how your body responds to each mushroom.

For example, some people may find they need to consume Cordyceps in the morning as it gives them too much energy late at night, while others can take it late at night with no issues.

Each individual experience will differ slightly as everyone is different in how their body metabolizes the beneficial compounds. The benefits of functional mushrooms are typically experienced with prolonged use. Some benefits can be felt right away, while other benefits (such as immune support) are more of what you don’t experience (not getting sick frequently, for example).

Our products can be taken with or without other foods. For our powders, we recommend mixing them into other foods (smoothies, coffee/tea and other recipes), as this is a great way to hide any earthy or bitter flavors from the mushrooms.

Functional mushrooms are known to work synergistically, meaning they may accomplish more together than alone.

So depending on the benefits you are looking to achieve, this will help to guide you on the best mushrooms to use together.

There are no toxic levels established with the use of functional mushrooms. If you would like to consume more than the recommended dose listed on the package, we suggest that you consult your qualified healthcare practitioner for guidance.

Functional mushrooms can be a great addition to a pet’s diet. Shroomies for dogs are specifically veterinarian formulated so that you can take the guesswork out and provide your furry friend with only the best.

You can also use our pure mushroom extracts with your pets. These can be given as capsules, or you can mix the powder onto their food. Consult a qualified veterinarian for guidance on specific conditions or treatment for your pet.

Mushrooms And Health

Each mushroom contains fungal beta-glucans. These beta-glucans come in many shapes, ultimately impacting the body in different ways; therefore, each mushroom will provide different benefits.

To learn more about each individual mushroom, please check out our “meet your mushrooms” page here.

Typically, mushrooms are roughly 25% protein, 58% carbohydrates and 3% fat. The rest is vitamins and minerals. In a standard 1 gram serving, there would be less than 1 gram of carbohydrates and approximately 3-4 calories.

Our pure functional mushroom powders are suitable for all of these diets.

As we are not medical professionals, we cannot provide specific advice on the use of our products.

Please reach out to your qualified healthcare professional for treatment options.
